Unbinding Your Heart Series is Coming!

As you read this we are still in the season of Lent in which we journey with Jesus toward the cross. It is a time of prayer, reflection and preparation. When we arrive together at the empty tomb on Easter morning there is much rejoicing. We wear our fanciest clothes, deck the church in glorious flowers and fill the sanctuary with the proclamation: “Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed!”

Did you know that Easter is more than one Sunday? Easter Day is the first of Great Fifty Days of Easter that lasts until Pentecost Sunday. This year you are invited to go on an Easter journey called Unbinding Your Heart: Forty Days of Prayer and Faith Sharing.  This is an evangelism series which is so appropriate to the time in the Christian year when we think about the growth of the early Christian church.

This is a journey I hope we can take together! Unbinding Your Heart small groups will read and discuss the book, share about weekly prayer experiences, and pray together. You may choose to be a part of one of the Sunday small groups. There is also a group that meets on Thursday afternoons. Small groups of any kind are a wonderful way to get to know your brothers and sisters in Christ. Don’t miss this opportunity to develop Christian friendships! Books will be distributed on April 14.

A prayer journal included in the book will invite you into some new and some very ancient ways of praying. It really is one of my favorite parts of Unbinding Your Heart!

There are many ways to be a part of this church wide experience. If you cannot meet in a group, you may choose to read and pray through the book alone. Weekly worship including sermons, show and tell, visuals and music will support our learning.  We have a wonderful family booklet to guide parents as they pray and share with their children.  I’m looking forward to taking this journey with you!
